Broker's Comments
The Moody 376 is widely regarded as one of Bill Dixon's finest cruising designs and remains a highly sought-after yacht thanks to her combination of comfortable accommodation, capable sailing performance and robust build quality. This 1989 example has clearly benefited from substantial investment by her owners, with much of the expensive and often overlooked maintenance work already completed, making her an attractive proposition for anyone looking for a proven cruising yacht.
The headline feature is undoubtedly the installation of a new Vetus 42hp diesel engine in 2021, which has seen very little use since fitting. In addition, the standing rigging was renewed in 2018, mast wiring replaced, a new fuel tank and fuel lines installed, and the engine service completed in November 2025. Further attention has been paid to safety and reliability with a new engine-room fire extinguisher, inspection of the keel bolts, and replacement of seacocks where necessary.
Below decks, the Moody offers the spacious and practical layout for which the model is so well known. The three-cabin arrangement provides comfortable accommodation for up to six people, making her equally suitable for family cruising or longer stays aboard. The saloon feels bright and welcoming, while the galley is well equipped and has benefited from an overhaul of the gas system and stove installation. Two heads compartments, hot and cold pressurised water and generous storage throughout help make life afloat comfortable and practical.
On deck, she is set up for relaxed cruising with in-mast furling, furling headsail, sprayhood, bimini and sun awning providing plenty of comfort underway and at anchor. The cockpit is spacious and secure, whilst the inventory includes a Rocna and Danforth anchor, Avon inflatable dinghy and Honda outboard. Safety equipment is comprehensive, including a liferaft serviced in autumn 2025, lifejackets, harnesses, danbuoy, emergency steering and LPG detection.
Overall, this appears to be a particularly well-maintained Moody 376 that benefits from significant recent upgrades in all the right areas. With a modern engine, renewed rigging and numerous important maintenance items already addressed, she offers a great opportunity to acquire a highly respected cruising yacht that is ready for her next adventure.
