This Dutch steel cruiser has benefited from continuous maintenance and numerous upgrades carried out by the current owner.
The hull, deck and superstructure are of all-steel construction, built in accordance with the Dutch boatbuilding tradition renowned for strength, durability and long-term cruising capability.
The vessel was last hauled out in 2024, when the hull was antifouled and all sacrificial anodes were renewed. Numerous additional improvements and maintenance works have also been completed in recent years, helping to keep the vessel in good overall mechanical and cosmetic condition.
A recent hull survey (2023) and satisfactory engine oil analysis are available.

Broker's Comments
Thierry from Boatshed SudMed and Boatshed Midicanals is pleased to offer for sale this 1996 Smits Spiegel Kotter.
Dutch steel cruisers have earned an enviable reputation throughout Europe for their robust construction, practical layouts and exceptional cruising comfort. The Tribute is a fine example of this tradition.
Built in steel by Smits in 1996, she offers generous accommodation, impressive headroom throughout and the reassuring feel of a vessel designed for long-distance cruising rather than occasional weekend use.
With a beam of 3.85m, over 2 metres of headroom and a comfortable two-cabin layout, this vessel is equally suited to extended cruising, seasonal liveaboard use or retirement adventures exploring the waterways of France and Europe.
Powered by a reliable DAF 615 diesel engine developing 138hp and equipped with both bow and stern thrusters, she combines easy handling with the security of a proven displacement hull. Her large capacities of 800 litres of fuel and 500 litres of fresh water further enhance her autonomy.
Particularly appealing is the significant investment made by the current owner. Recent works include hull maintenance and anodes, replacement batteries, new bilge pumps, steering ram refurbishment, replacement Morse control cables, propeller work, navigation lights, gas installation updates and numerous electrical improvements. An oil analysis and engine service have also been carried out with satisfactory results.
Whether your plans involve the Canal du Midi, the French waterways network, the Netherlands, Belgium or coastal cruising in suitable conditions, Tribute offers a rare combination of comfort, practicality and Dutch craftsmanship.
For buyers seeking a genuine cruising home rather than simply a boat, this Smits Kotter deserves serious consideration.
Comparable in philosophy to respected Dutch builders such as Linssen, Stevens, Aquanaut and Valkkruiser, the Smits Kotter offers the robust steel construction and cruising comfort for which Dutch motor yachts are renowned
