Broker's Comments
1998 Chaparral 2835SS — A Thoroughly Upgraded Classic Sports Cruiser
Chaparral's flagship 2835SS was the standout performer of its era — an 8.5m sports cruiser with the Extended V-Plane hull that planes fast, rides dry, and handles big water with confidence. This particular example has been comprehensively re-engineered and presents in exceptional condition, with a documented investment of over £108,000 since 2019.
The headline upgrade is the fitment of twin Volvo Penta 300 V8 300CE EVS DPS Complete Packages (July 2022, £67,458), transforming what was already a capable performer into a genuinely potent twin-engined cruiser. New propellers were fitted at the same time. A bow thruster (2020) makes short work of marina manoeuvres, while the new cockpit and instrument panel (April 2022, £4,509) gives the helm area a thoroughly modern feel.
Navigation and electronics have been brought fully up to date with a Garmin EchoMap chartplotter, new VHF radio and Garmin depth transducer. A new anchor chain completes the ground tackle.
The original Chaparral interior remains a genuine strength — 1.52m of headroom in the cabin, seating for four at the dinette, full-sized berth with hideaway filler cushion, mini galley, and an enclosed fibreglass head with vacuum-flush system. The aft cockpit U-shaped lounge converts to a sun pad via the filler cushion. The woodgrain dash with mahogany wheel retains its period character.
Presented with a custom printed boat wrap (2023) and protected by a quality Mastercover (2022), the boat looks the part both on and off the water.
A rare opportunity to acquire a well-loved, extensively invested sports cruiser with full documented history — ready to use without compromise.
